A half day desert safari is the easiest way to experience Qatar's dunes without giving up your whole day. In about four hours, a local guide drives you out of Doha into the sand for a session of dune bashing, followed by a camel ride and time to take in the desert. It is the trip most first-time visitors start with, and it is ideal if you are in Doha for a short stay or on a layover between flights.
You can go in the morning, when the light is soft and the sand is cooler, or in the afternoon, when the drive ends on a desert sunset. Either way, we pick you up from your hotel across Doha or directly from Hamad International, run the safari in our own Land Cruisers, and drop you back after.
If you want more time out, the full day adds a desert lunch, and the overnight camp adds dinner and a night under the stars.
Book NowYour guide collects you from anywhere in Doha, or from Hamad International if you are on a layover, and heads for the dunes.
The main event, a controlled dune bashing session across the sand, with tyres set for the dunes and your guide reading the safe lines.
A short camel ride on the sand and time to walk, take photos, and take in the quiet away from the city.
Water and a rest before the drive back, or, on the sunset slot, a pause for the light going down over the dunes.
We operate under a Qatar Tourism license for desert safari activity and guest and vehicle safety.
Tyre pressure is adjusted for the sand before every session, and the driving stays controlled throughout.
Each vehicle carries unlimited water for the group, whatever the season.
A half day is short, but nothing about the safety is cut short. Every trip runs on the same standards as our longer safaris, so a quick outing is still a properly run one. The vehicle is prepped before you get in, the driving stays controlled on the dunes, and the plan is built around your comfort from the moment we pick you up to the moment we drop you back. It is the kind of trip you can hand a family, a nervous first-timer, or a group of friends, and know they are in safe hands.
The half day safari runs year-round, but the cooler months from October to April are the most comfortable out on the dunes. Within a day, the two best windows are early morning, when the sand is cool and the light is soft, and late afternoon, when the drive ends on a desert sunset. In summer, the morning slot is the easiest on the heat. On a layover, we simply run the safari at whatever time fits your flight.
