An overnight desert safari is the desert at its best, because the dunes change completely once the day-trippers leave. You get dune bashing in the late afternoon light, a camp set up near the Inland Sea, dinner under an open sky, and a night of quiet and stars that you simply cannot get on a day trip. In the morning, breakfast and a sunrise session on the dunes send you back with the desert to yourself.
A local guide runs the whole thing, drives you out of Doha in a Land Cruiser, sets up the camp, and stays with the group through the night. Pickup is included from your hotel across Doha or from Hamad International for layover guests with time for a longer stay.
If a full night is more than you need, the full day covers dune bashing and lunch, and the half day is the quick version, while the dinner in the desert gives you the evening without the overnight stay.

The overnight camp is best from October to April, when the desert nights are cool and clear rather than hot, which makes both the evening around the camp and the sleep far more comfortable. These months also bring the clearest skies for stargazing. In the hotter part of the year the overnight still runs, but the cooler season is when a night in the desert is at its most enjoyable.
